  • Inauguration of the Cinematheque Centre in Manila

    Last December 15, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) inaugurated its new offices located in one of Manila’s most historical quarters at TM Kalaw. The Cinematheque Centre houses a 100-seat theater, an archives facility, and a mediatheque of films from various Southeast Asian countries.

  • Cine Europa 2015

    Cine Europa celebrates its 18th year in bringing European culture closer to the Filipinos through the silver screen. Opening in Manila on September 9 at the Shangri-La Plaza, films from 18 European countries will travel to 10 cities in a span of two months to demonstrate the coming of age in European society.

  • "Paris qui dort" at the 9th International Silent Film Festival in Manila

    The Embassy of France participates in the 9th edition of the International Silent Film Festival in Manila which will take place from August 27 to 30, 2015 at the Shang Cineplex, Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City. The French comedy "Paris qui dort" (1923) directed by Rene Clair will be screened on August 30, 3:00pm to be accompanied by the music of the Ian Lofamia Blues Band.

    This year, the French Film Festival celebrates its 20th year of bringing critically-acclaimed films and blockbusters to local audiences. The festival aims to promote French culture and, at the same time, support the local film industry by screening and paying tribute to classic and contemporary Philippine films. It will be running from June 3 to 9, 2015 at the Greenbelt 3 cinemas in Makati City and at the Bonifacio High Street cinemas in Taguig.
