  • 390 French tourists come home on a second special flight

    The French government organized a second special flight operated by Qatar Airways at a negotiated rate in order to bring home a significant number of French tourists who were stranded in the Philippines. In the evening of April 1 and 2, 2020, 390 French citizens contacted by the Embassy, as well as 22 citizens of different European States, were able to return to France from Cebu and Manila.

  • 406 French tourists return to France on a special flight (March 24 and 25, 2020)

    Through a special flight at a negotiated rate guaranteed by Qatar Airways and organized by the French government, a significant number of French tourists stranded in the Philippines were able to return to France. In the evening of March 24 to March 25, 406 French citizens contacted by the Embassy were able to return to their country from Cebu and Manila.

  • Mary Aileen D. Bacalso receives the Franco-German Prize for Human Rights and the Rule of Law

    Last December 12, French Ambassador Nicolas Galey and German Ambassador Anke Reiffenstuel jointly awarded the Franco-German Prize for Human Rights and the Rule of Law to Mary Aileen D. Bacalso, former Secretary-General of the Asian Federation against Involuntary Disappearances (AFAD).

  • IRASEC and De La Salle University organize conference on challenges in the South China Sea (November 29, 2019)

    21 speakers from Southeast Asia and France gathered at the De La Salle University Manila to discuss and debate on the diplomatic and strategic challenges present in the South China Sea. This conference, which was attended by over 100 participants including experts, decision-makers, professors, and students, was organized by French researcher François Xavier-Bonnet for IRASEC (Institut de Recherche sur l’Asie du Sud-Est Contemporaine – Research Institute on Contemporary Southeast Asia) and the De La Salle University, with the support of the Embassy of France to the Philippines. Also participating in this conference were Dr. Christine Cabasset, researcher and publication director of IRASEC, and Dr. Eric Frécon, political science and international relations professor and researcher at the Ecole Navale and associate researcher at the Asia Centre.

  • Proparco’s first investment in the Philippines will support the growth of local middle-market companies

    Through a US$15 million commitment in Navegar Fund II, Navegar’s second private equity fund, Proparco closes its first operation in the Philippines. The fund is expected to finance the growth of 6 to 8 middle-market companies and foster local job creation.

  • Official reception of the French National Day in the Philippines

    Last July 14, French Ambassador Nicolas Galey and Mrs. Camélia Galey welcomed hundreds of guests to their residence for an exceptional evening to celebrate the French National Day and recall the values of “liberté, égalité et fraternité” for which it stands. Among the guests were representatives from the Government and Congress, the diplomatic corps, the media, the private sector, civil society and NGOs, as well as partners in cultural and scientific cooperation and members of the French community in the Philippines.

  • Meeting of French Minister of State Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne with representatives of French NGOs in the Philippines

    During his visit to Manila last June 28, French Minister of State Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne met representatives of various French NGOs operating in the Philippines (Virlanie, ACTED and its partner NGO Gawad Kalinga, ACAY, Eau et Vie and MakeSense). This meeting was an occasion for these associations to present their respective projects in the Philippines, as well as to discuss the socio-economic situation of the country.

  • Visit of French Minister of State Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne

    Mr. Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, France’s Minister of State attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, visited the Philippines last June 27 and 28 to co-chair, together with Philippine Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, the 8th France-Philippines Joint Economic Committee (JEC) meeting.

  • Visit by Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne (27-28 June 2019)

    Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will visit the Philippines from June 27 to 28 in order to co-chair, together with Ramon Lopez, Minister of Trade of the Philippines, the 8th Joint Economic Committee. The work will focus on prospects for economic cooperation, notably in the areas of infrastructure, transport, renewable energy and agriculture, and will be enhanced by the attendance of a delegation of companies led by MEDEF International.
