Cultural Thursdays presents Creole Jazz Night at the Alliance Française de Manille [fr]
The ninth edition of Les Jeudis culturels (Cultural Thursdays) was definitely an evening to remember as jazz singer Tricia Evy and pianist David Fackeure performed a series of jazz standards and Caribbean music to a lively and receptive audience last September 12 at the Alliance française de Manille.
With jazz as a collaborative style of music, even the audience took part in the performance by singing along with Tricia Evy, sharing the emotion of her music, while saxophonist Vince Lahora took the stage for an improvised rendition of well-known songs such as “Feuilles Mortes” and “Sunny Side of the Street.” Following the concert, David Fackeure was pleased to offer an impromptu masterclass to pianist RJ Pineda of the blues group, Bratpack.
The concert was organized with the support of the French radio station, “Couleurs Jazz.” The success of the event encourages us to pursue further collaborations with the station, with the aim of inviting more French artists to perform in the Philippines and to further develop exchanges with Filipino musicians.
We thank Air France for flying the artists to the Philippines, as well as Giffard and Don Papa for offering a taste of the Caribbean through their cocktails.
