Defense cooperation agreement signed between France and the Philippines [fr]
France and the Philippines entered into a new phase in their bilateral relations through the signing of a defense cooperation agreement.
The agreement was signed by French Ambassador Thierry Mathou and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin at a ceremony at the Department of National Defense last May 11.
The cooperation agreement provides a framework to develop bilateral relations between the defense agencies and the armed forces of France and the Philippines, as well as to promote bilateral defense cooperation relating to defense equipment, logistics and the defense industry. The agreement also provides strengthened cooperation through high-level visits, dialogues and defense policy consultations, training and capacity building, exchange of information, and the development of “naval” cooperation.
