The French Republic is made up of 13 administrative regions in Metropolitan France and subdivided into 96 departments.


It also has five overseas departments (DOM) : Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Réunion, and Mayotte; five overseas collectivities (COM) : French Polynesia, St Pierre and Miquelon, Wallis and Futuna, Saint Martin, Saint Bartelemy; and several territories with a special status : New Caledonia, Clipperton and the French Southern and Antarctic Territories.
