French-Philippine Joint Economic Committee reconvenes in France [fr]
Following the State Visit of French President François Hollande to the Philippines last February, French Minister of State for Foreign Trade Matthias Fekl and Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo co-chaired the 7th Session of the French-Philippine Joint Economic Committee (JEC) in Paris last October 20, 2015.
This meeting, which was attended by government officials and businessmen from France and the Philippines, aimed to discuss key challenges in bilateral cooperation, such as the fight against climate change and the aerospace and food processing industries.
France and the Philippines have initiated cooperation in sustainable development through French development aid. The JEC also promoted French expertise in renewable energy (MEDDE and Engie) and underscored the use of French development assistance to the Philippines.
Trade between France and the Philippines grew to $2.5 billion in 2014, including $2 billion in exports (9th trade surplus of France) with a French market share to 3% against 1.4% in 2013.
