From October 21 to 30, 2018, the Quezon City International Film Festival (QCinema) presents films from the Philippines and the rest of the world, including eight French movies, at the theaters of the, Gateway Mall, Robinsons Galleria, Trinoma, and the UP Town Center.

As Quezon City is the home of the Philippines’ audiovisual industry, where the country’s major television channels and main film studios are located, QCinema is organized by industry professionals who select films that have been presented in prestigious international festivals, like the Cannes Film Festival.

For its 6th year, with the support of the French Embassy to the Philippines, QCinema will feature a selection of French films in its different sections: Screen International, TF1 French Classics, and RainbowQC.

Climax by Gaspar Noé (2018)

Following an unforgettable opening performance, the troupe begins an all-night celebration that turns nightmarish as the dancers discover they’ve been pounding cups of sangria laced with potent LSD. Visages, Villages (Faces, Places) by Agnès Varda & JR (2017)

Agnès Varda and JR have things in common: a passion for and the exploration of images in general, and more precisely, for places and for ways of showing, sharing, and exhibiting them. Agnès chose cinema. JR chose to create open air photography galleries.

When Agnès and JR met in 2015, they immediately wanted to work together, to shoot a film in France, far from cities, during a trip in JR’s photographic (and magical) truck. Through chance encounters and prepared projects, they reached out to others, listening to them, photographing them, and sometimes putting them on posters. This film also tells the story of Agnès and JR’s friendship, which grew stronger throughout the film shoot, between surprises and teasing, and while laughing about their differences.
