Results of the 2018 call for projects to the French-Philippine NGO network [fr]

Within the framework of the call for projects for French-Philippine NGOs launched by the Embassy of France to the Philippines last September 21, a jury chaired by the Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs convened last November 13, 2018 to select a project proposal in favor of an underprivileged community or social group, preferably an innovative initiative in the fields of environmental preservation or climate change.

Given the quality and relevance of the projects proposed by the members of the French-Philippine NGO network, the French Embassy has decided this year to award two associations.

For the first prize, the jury recognized the project submitted by Entrepreneurs du Monde, which will receive subsidy of 4 000 EUR (approximately 244 000 PHP) on behalf of the Embassy of France in the Philippines and Micronesia.

The project of Entrepreneurs du Monde focuses on the solar electrification of 50 beneficiary households (potentially more than 250 people) in the province of Quezon by April 2019. The use of solar energy will ensure the safety of the electrical installations that will be installed, increase access to employment, facilitate access to education, promote gender equality and improve the provision of social services to the benefit of the entire community.

The second prize was awarded to Eau et Vie, which will receive funding amounting to EUR 2,000 (about PHP 122,000).

This second project aims to implement sanitation and solid waste management networks in the slums of the Cavite region, reaching 30 families or around 120 people, in its first phase. The objective is to improve the living conditions of populations in precarious urban and suburban areas in a sustainable manner through a comprehensive approach to water, hygiene, waste and sanitation. This project, which will run from January to December 2019, can be extended to reach 200 beneficiary households by 2020.

The Embassy thanks all the participants for their interest in this year’s call for projects and congratulates them for their contributions.
