Sommet de l’Élevage, Europe’s top livestock show [fr]
The “Sommet de l’Élevage”, the leading livestock show in Europe, will take place in Clermont-Ferrand, France, on October 4, 5 and 6, 2017.
Now on its 26th edition, the Sommet de l’Élevage has become one of the major international professional fairs specializing in animal production: 2,000 animals, 1,500 exhibitors (300 of which are from abroad), 88,000 visitors (4,000 of which are from abroad), 180,000 m2 of exhibit space. It is the principal fair for cattle breeding and for livestock farming in the mountains and in difficult terrain.
The exhibition covers all sectors of livestock: animal genetics, livestock supplies and services, equipment, agricultural machinery… The Sommet de l’Élevage is also an international economic gathering for agro-equipment and agro-supplies, with the presence of all the major French and numerous European manufacturers.
The 2017 edition will include various national animal breed competitions (Limousine, Montbéliarde, Charolaise, Salers, etc.), over 30 conferences on the latest in agriculture, livestock visits and an evening to present French breeds to visiting foreign delegations.
In 2016, the Sommet de l’Élevage welcomed 300 international exhibitors from 31 countries, and 4,000 visitors from 84 countries.
