On July 14, French Ambassador Marie Fontanel led the commemoration of the 235th National Day of the French Republic (Bastille Day) in the Philippines, which is also a celebration of the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Today, our national day coincides almost with the end of my first year in Manila… I have been appointed here with the mandate to contribute to strengthening the bilateral relationship between our two countries,” Ambassador Fontanel said in her speech during the reception held at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City.

Guests from the Philippine government, the diplomatic corps, the private sector, civil society, the cultural circles, and the media shared good food and good music with the French community in celebration of the deepening ties between France and the Philippines.
