Meeting of French Minister of State Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne with representatives of French NGOs in the Philippines

During his visit to Manila last June 28, French Minister of State Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne met representatives of various French NGOs operating in the Philippines (Virlanie, ACTED and its partner NGO Gawad Kalinga, ACAY, Eau et Vie and MakeSense). This meeting was an occasion for these associations to present their respective projects in the Philippines, as well as to discuss the socio-economic situation of the country.

The French-Filipino NGO network is particularly active and present all over the country. Several of them have implemented social entrepreneurship programs for the benefit of local communities. Through these initiatives, these associations provide opportunities for underprivileged individuals to climb the social ladder, while also promoting a sustainable and inclusive model of development.

In the last 12 years, many of these NGOs have been recognized by the French Embassy through a yearly call for projects that offers financial assistance for the most innovative and promising initiatives. In 2018, the NGOs Eau et Vie and Entrepreneurs du monde were selected for their projects focusing on the improvement of living conditions of urban poor communities and on solar-based power production benefitting dozens of households, respectively.
