Opening of the 9th PHILMARINE International Maritime Show (June 19-20, 2024) [fr]

On June 19 and 20, Manila hosted the ninth edition of the PHILMARINE international maritime trade show. Over fifty national and international companies exhibited their products, alongside Philippine government maritime agencies (MARINA, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Ports Authority, etc.). The event also featured conferences led by experts on strategic industry topics.

The show is part of the government’s drive to promote a sustainable maritime industry and improve shipping safety as part of the National Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP-2028).

The second day of the event was dedicated to Franco-Philippine technical cooperation, with the participation of fifteen French companies from the maritime sector. Organized by Expertise France and GICAN, in partnership with the French Embassy and MARINA, participants presented their solutions and know-how to the Philippine maritime world.

In her opening speech, Ambassador Marie Fontanel reaffirmed France’s strong commitment to maritime cooperation with the Philippines. For the past two years, this commitment has been demonstrated by the presence of a French technical expert within the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), whose extension for a further two years was announced on this occasion. This commitment was also reflected in the June 5 launch of the "Blue Nations: France and Philippines partners for the Oceans" program. These initiatives testify to the active cooperation between France and the Philippines, as part of a common strategy in the run-up to the United Nations Conference on the Oceans (UNOC) scheduled for June 2025 in Nice.

The MARINA administrator expressed her great satisfaction and hopes to see this event continue in the years to come.
